I Left the Book Game for Nearly a Year. Here’s Why.

2017 has kicked the crap outta me.

I started writing Madman (Love & Chaos #1) in September of 2016, but I put it on hold so that I could write Red Snow and have it released by the end of that year.  Once Red Snow dropped, I wanted to pick Madman back up, but my spine had other ideas.  I had a nerve being pinched by 2 discs in my spine, and it was causing some major pain & numbness in my right leg & foot.  So, the Air Force, after countless spinal injections and physical therapy, finally decided to give me spinal surgery.

So, I dropped everything and had my back cut open on April 28th, and spent the summer trying to recover.  I wasn’t getting any writing done, and the Air Force decided since I got my surgery, they wanted to make sure I was still capable of being an Airmen at all.  So, they started making me jump through tons of hoops to see if I can still do my job, and I’ve been fighting for months trying to prove myself, while also still trying to recover from the surgery.  It’s been a real bitch.

But the good news is that years of bodybuilding and protein have made me pretty damn strong, so when the Air Force started testing me, I started grinding.  I got off my ass and started working out and eating right again.  I lost some body fat, got my cardio on and passed the shit out of an Air Force PT test with a score of 92.8!  Not to toot my own horn, but I killed that shit.  Passing a full test 7 months after having surgery on your spine isn’t exactly the norm.  Plus, I did it while writing the book I’ve been working on for over a year now.  As I traveled on the plane coming back from seeing the VA in California, I finished writing Madman!  I still don’t have an answer from the Air Force regarding whether or not I can stay in, but passing that test was extremely important and gives me a great chance at saving my career.

So, needless to say, it’s been a bitch, but I’ve been fighting and working.  I couldn’t be prouder of what I’ve been able to accomplish since the surgery, and that’s why this book is so special and important to me.  I wrote this novel while struggling through the roughest year of my career, so to see it wrapping up now feels amazing.  Madman is BY FAR the best thing I’ve ever written, so now that I’m back in the book world, I couldn’t be happier about the work I’m coming back with.  I’ve got a cover reveal coming up, ARCs coming in December, and a ton of teasers to get you just as hyped as I am about this novel/series.  So get ready book world, I’m back!
